Sarah Jane had begun to sweat. A polite writer might have said 'glow', but Sarah Jane had never been catogorized as 'polite'. Plucky, cheeky, obstinate, nosey, blistering, sure, but never polite, so she was sweating. She could feel it prickling at her scalp, and running down her spine.
Still, it was much better than cold in her estimation.
Though she was certain the Doctor's grumpiness was stemming from the fact that she was coming up to be the favorite, she was still curious about the answers to his questions. She was glad that Mu'ib was confident in answering, and none of the men seemed interested in interrupting her. Between the beauty of this place, her own status and the seeming status of women on this planet, things seemed to be working out well on this planet they'd stumbled onto, regardless of the grumpiness she was still registering from her friend. Actually, along the years, she'd realized the Doctor rather liked being gloomy, so she wasn't worried about that either. When she flashed a look back at him, she included a brief raspberry at the Doctor to point out his gloom.
When she heard Mu'ib use the word 'magic' Sarah Jane automatically translated that to 'technology'. She didn't believe in magic, and in all her years of travel with the Doctor, nothing had come along to change her mind. The idea of technology on this rather backward seeming planet was an interesting twist. After all, if they had the means of moving from one side of the planet to the other as the seasons changed, why didn't they just have air conditioners? Very interesting.
Sarah Jane was a Traveler for certain, and a joyous one at that (mostly) but right under that, she was an Investigative Journalist and there was no way to keep her mind from putting puzzle pieces together, even if she'd rather just stomp about on new planets for just the joy of it.
Chosen one. Holy Father. Magic. And sweat on Zafa'it's weathered, coppery skin. Interesting.
"It seems hot enough here already. When will you go to the other side, Zafa'it?" She was rather hoping to have a little time to get to know these people (and eat their sweets) before they had to go.
