It was 2200 AD. The Time War was over, and the Time Lords had sent Susan back home to London, to her flat located within the old Coal Hill school that had been converted into living spaces in the late 21st century. She took a few minutes to walk through her place, checking to make sure that everything was still as it should be. In a way, she was also saying goodbye, as she intended to force herself to regenerate -- after everything that she’d been through, she thought it was about time for a new face. A fresh start. It would have been wise for Susan to pop into her TARDIS for her regeneration, but… No. Susan wanted to be outside; to feel the fresh air on her skin. And so, she left her flat and headed outside to a nearby park. It was dusk -- mostly dark outside -- and from what she could see, Susan seemed to have the place all to herself. Perfect, she thought. It was time. Susan took a deep breath and willed the change to happen. It started slowly at first -- the regeneration energy crept through her body and began the process of rewriting her DNA -- and in the end, it culminated in what appeared to be an explosion of golden energy that swirled about her before bursting outward. She slumped down to the ground, weakened by her exertions and took a moment to just breathe. Then, she began to feel her new face. Without a mirror, it was hard to mark the changes that had been made, but it felt like a nice face. She had all of her teeth, and both of her ears and eyes, though she hadn’t a clue if her eye color had changed or not… Her hair was longer, but still dark… Her face felt smooth -- young. Everything seemed to be accounted for: arms, legs, fingers, toes… Everything seemed right, though she’d love to be able to visually inspect her new body in a full length mirror. Susan supposed that she ought to get herself back home, but before she had managed to stand back up, she heard voices… There were other people nearby. Had they seen her regenerate? And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ The Master had not been good at forgiving others in a long time. As a result, it was only natural that when he caught the recognizable presence of another Gaillifreyan and one he had not come across in a long time, revenge almost immediately came across his mind. Exactly how to do that was another matter entirely. Exactly how things might go wasn't hard to imagine. After all, as a Time Lord, he already had an idea of what possibilities lay before him. As far as he was concerned, he had to focus on how to react.
Turning to those below him, he imagined, was the best solution. Attempting to go at this headfirst would not end well. As a result, he sought out people who he thought could help him. In the end, he turned to a group of aliens, ones who appeared to not only be lower lifeforms but quite gullible. Speaking to them shortly, he managed to convince them of a supposed prophecy. Despite any skepticism they possessed, he challenged them to prove him wrong, giving them a rough idea of where Susan was likely to be. Confident things would go well, he gave them a set of instructions as to what to do once they found her. As such, they set out.
Still somewhat skeptical, the ground began searching, grumbling among themselves. As they did so, only one, possessing much keener senses than the others, managed to catch sight of her regeneration. A gasp escaped him. "The goddess!"

She was practicing the recorder in the Control Room. The second Control Room, the one she thought of as having a victorian motif. The other one certainly had it's futuristic charm and less things to trip over when the ride got bumpy, but this one just seemed friendlier. Also, it did not have the Doctor in it. He'd gotten awfully grumpy about her trying to teach herself "Drunken Sailor" and had shooed her away from him. Well, patience was not her friend's strong suit. She wandered around the room as she played the song over and over, getting a little better at it each time while she took a good look around. They'd only just found this place a couple of weeks ago, and the endless detailing. She played a few wrong notes as she looked at those lovely stained glass panels. Where did the light come from that showed through it? Space? Another room? Sarah hadn't been able to find it. Even when things seemed to go in a straight line, they didn't and one could never guess which room would be next to which. The note she was tooting out dropped and stopped. All three of those stained glass round windows had blinked, glitched like a telly between channels. The stained glass was visible another moment, then it was back to telly snow. Sarah Jane stood breathless as she watched a moving picture resolve. No, three different pictures, they seemed to be of the same thing from three different angles. A person only just showing in the dark. A figure just seen in some sort of manicured-nature setting. It was a young woman, Sarah saw, as she apparently unknowing walked closer to one of the cameras. A cute dark haired woman with a pixie face. A face that began to glow, coming clear with the additional light. In the other two views you could see that her whole body was glowing, though one view was quite far away. She startled back when the figure seemed to burst into shooting flames. "Doctor!! Doctor! Get in her! Quick!" she shouted, swallowing hard in the realization she'd just watched the woman with that sweet little face die. "Doctoor!" she yelled with an edge of irritation. She was going to yell for him again, but then her breath was taken away. The woman still stood, but now she had a new face. Long bright hair that couldn't possibly survive a fire but had, and a face that was cheekbones for days. The fact that these images were here at all was strange enough, but what they showed had her quite up sharp as well. ( the fourth doctor Susan Foreman The Master )

He had been doing something of the utmost greatest importance -- tinkering with the controls of the TARDIS, of course. Simply because something about his trusted time-travelling machine just didn't seem up to par, and had gone terribly wrong. Or rather, she seemed considerably cranky and/or somewhat queasy. It was odd, considering their current statis of solely sitting in the centre of the spacial cerebral cortex, but he could very well guess the cause of his ship's sulkiness, and it was very possible that it had a lot to do with his blundering brunette companion playing his old recorder, because, you see, it wasn't exactly the most symphonic of sounds.
That's why he had shoo-ed her away, so that he could try to calm the TARDIS down. Re-calibrate her transcendental spheres and make a lovely arrangement for their next arrival. His large hand had just rested on the lever for departure before he heard the terrible shrills of a voice that could only be Sarah's.
"Oh, stop your complaining," he bellowed back in brisque, but when her shouts became louder and more urgent, the Doctor soon realized that there might actually be something that he needed to see.
"What? What is it?" His blue eyes grew wide with alarm, and his eyebrows met in the form of a question as he heard his companion's cries when he reached the end of the corridor, and turned into the secondary console room with swiftness and accuracy.
And, then, of course, his sapphires fell upon the big screen, and his mouth shaped into something similar to the letter 'o'. He had arrived just in time to witness the woman dawn a new set of features, and his hearts stopped momentarily as his feet slowly inched closer to the screen.
It was a woman with dark hair and a very young face. But, somehow, he recognized that face, even though he knew he had never seen it before.
Then, he shared a glance with Sarah questionably, then back at the grand display. His index pointed narrowly at the one on the multiple screens. "Who is she?" he asked, puzzled, as much to himself as to his trusted best friend.

Susan heard someone cry out, ”The goddess!”, and then other voices began to echo the first, until there was a cacophony of voices, all terribly excited, heading toward her. ”Oh, dear…” Susan muttered bringing her hands up to massage her temples. All of the excitement was giving her a bit of a headache… She wanted to know who this goddess was, and what all this fuss was about, so she stayed put as the voices drew ever nearer. ”Please? Do you mind? Do you need to be so very loud?” she grumpily murmured as the voices surrounded her; however, her words and her tone seemed to have gotten through to these people, and they immediately hushed up. With a sinking feeling, Susan realized then that she must be this goddess to which they were referring to. She thought, But, I’m not a goddess… Am I? It was hard to say. The regeneration had taken a lot out of her -- especially since she hadn’t done it in the safety of her TARDIS -- so she was more than a little out of it just now. And yet, she was with it enough to realize that she’d better just go along with whatever was happening, for she was aware how very fanatical certain religious nuts could be. Yes, that’s it -- I’ll just go with it… Susan decided. She smiled benevolently at these people and gave them all a wave of her hand in greeting. ”Why, hello! And who might you be?” Susan asked the throng of people who had gathered around her. Pleased as punch to have been addressed by their goddess, their designated leader gave Susan a deep bow and replied, ”We are your humble servants, my goddess. Your coming was foretold long ago, and we are here to bring you home, where we may better worship you.””Oh! Well, okay!” she replied, trying to sound far more enthusiastic than she felt. ”Please, lead the way,” she told them; though, she wasn’t yet aware that “home” was on another planet… The Master , the fourth doctor , & sarah jane smith

❧ The group appeared to be quite enthused that they had received agreement. Any slivers of doubt that may have formerly existed were beginning to slip away as it appeared as though everything that the Master had "foretold" was falling into place. Clearly, Susan was the person that had been foretold to come- the goddess. The fact they had seen her do what, at least within these aliens' minds, was impossible only furthered that thought.
"Of course," the leader among them said, careful to keep his voice lower as she had asked. Similarly, the others said nothing, merely nodding along. With that said, they moved to shuffle her along to where they had come from where the Master waited for their return.

The feed continued even as the Doctor finally showed up, all but stuttering to a stop as he saw what was on the screen. There was a certain reverence in the group that surrounded this woman with her new face, a reverance that came many throated and sounded hauntingly familiar to Sarah Jane. Pretty much every time some nefarious numbskulls who had decided she was either the second coming, or the perfect sacrifice to one god or another, she'd heard such a tender hubbub. The small hairs stood up on the back of her neck, and she reached back, fingers loosely, briefly entwining with the Doctor's for comfort as they stared at the screen that soon went to snow and hiss.
"I know exactly who that is." she said, her voice low and worried. Their hands were so barely touching that it was more a hint than a tug as she kept connection and left the room, leading like a dancer. Sarah Jane lead the Doctor this way and that, at some point having let go of him, knowing her friend would follow.
It was on the path to Sarah Jane's chosen bedroom. A hallway with a few pictures on it. She stopped in front of the right one, grabbing the Doctor's arm to stop him as well, and pointing up at a particular old black and white photo with her free hand.
"There. There she is. Before she changed, she looked just like this girl only quite a bit older. I'm positively certain it was the same person."
Sarah Jane didn't know their names, but it was to a particularly lovely tintype of Barbara Wright and a very young Susan Foreman.
"You have to remember who that is, Doctor, because I think she's in trouble. Deep trouble."

He stared at the screen as the scene faded into oblivion, still marveling upon the fact that he had seen a Timelord change right before his very eyes -- and not one who was on Gallifrey. To his knowledge, there were only two of his kind travelling around the universe, which were, quite obviously, him and the Master, respectively. A being of great evil, and a being of hopeful good. Now his TARDIS was showing him someone else who also ran around the cosmos and the ethos, but, who seemed to have gotten herself in quite a bit of trouble.
He felt the tickle of her fingers in his hand, and her touch, he knew, instinctively, meant she was scared. He tagged along beside her, matching her speed as she led him out of the secondary control room and down the corridor. "You do?" he asked with insatiable surprise and a growing curiosity. His voice and his features almost seemed doubtful and disbelieving, but they were moreso trying to put his companion's actions together more than anything else. How could Sarah know the Gallifreyan that had been telepathically televised, when he had never taken her to Gallifrey? Where could she have encountered that mysterious girl? It somewhat bothered him that his brunette beauty of a companion knew something he didn't. Though, he had to admit, on the other side of the coincidental coin, it was nice to be the one learning for a change.
The one with the long scarf would have almost kept walking if she hadn't grabbed him by his arm and turned him back around. His blue eyes studied the pictures on the hallway wall -- one he had almost forgotten had existed. His usually joyful journalist gazed up at him in concern as she pointed out the one who had been framed. A form of recognition and a tinge of sorrow suddenly drenched his expression, as his hands reached out to take the picture down, and into his palms. "Susan." his face hardened, mirroring Sarah's in his own understanding of what could lie ahead.
Then, he looked at Sarah with the utmost gaze. "Are you certain this is who you saw before she changed into the woman I saw?" he asked, still quite serious even if his words were juxtaposed in jesty circles.
If his grand-daughter was actually still alive, and was still out there, which he had long assumed to be an impossibility in itself, then that meant it could be both a very good day and very dangerous. From what he had seen, nothing good could come of it, and if his hypothesis was correct and Sarah's suspicions were on the nose, well... "Deep trouble, indeed." He repeated heftily as a sincere, troubled look came over his features, and a sudden idea came to mind.
Then, his quickly handed the picture to Sarah, and went dashing down the corridor, long legs in stride towards the control room. The secondary one, that is.

Susan happily followed along, not at all realizing that she had been totally tricked and shanghaied by these people. Through the park they went, traipsing happily along, until they came to the place where the Master was waiting for them. ”Oh, hello! Who are you?” Susan curiously asked, not immediately recognizing the other Time Lord. Her regeneration had been a bit of a doozy, you see, and she was still fighting off a bout of regeneration sickness -- but it wouldn’t last forever. At some point, her memory would become sharp again, and she would realize what had happened. But for now, she was in blissful ignorance. ”And, do you happen to know who I am? I seem to have forgotten…” she went on, addressing the Master. Susan seemed slightly troubled by this, but not overly so. She offered him an apologetic smile and a casual shrug of her shoulders, as if it were no big deal if he could answer her question or not. Apparently, she was some sort of goddess, which sounded absolutely wonderful. ”Is something about to happen? It feels like it. Are we going somewhere?” she asked a bit giddily, interested in whatever it was that was going on. The Mastersarah jane smiththe fourth doctor

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ The Master wasn't sure how long it would take the group of aliens to find Susan or if they would even succeed. The possibility certainly certainly existed; however, it was only his own actions that gave him confidence that this would go well at all. After all, those below his own being rarely did well. If anything, they were far more inclined to failure. Thankfully, the small group eventually came back with a fairly confused Susan in tow.
He allowed a charming smile to cross faintly youthful features. "Morana," he said as he stood. He quickly dipped into a small bow, careful to keep to the story he had created. "But of course," he said genuinely, "It would be impossible to have forgotten." Her regeneration sickness had clearly not worn off which was good for him. However, the Master knew he was working on what was effectively a time bomb. His revenge had to be swift instead of drawn out lest she realize he was lying. Exactly how long that timer was was not something he could guess. It was a bit different for everyone. If he was lucky, it would be hours. If he was unlucky, it would be drastically shorter.
He was far more inclined to plan for the latter.
"You are a goddess." An old story, once told before. Best to not make it too familiar though. "One foretold to come long ago. We have been waiting for you." Or, he had rather. The other fools had only just heard of her and had thus just been waiting a sliver of time. "If you could, yes," he said, feigning a look of worry. If he was right, she was likely catching onto things only they could catch- the shifts and movements of time. He didn't bother to mention his own feelings in regards to it, but her own verbalization of it was helpful. It certainly helped confirm his story, as the gullible fools looked all the more interested at the mention of what likely seemed to be an unnatural phenomenon. "I'm afraid you are in a bit of danger, your grace."

She felt a grand sense of relief when she saw the Doctor's expression go hard. Sarah Jane was certain something was amiss, and this time she knew she wouldn't have to convince him of it.
"I'm absolutely certain it's her." She insisted, her hand unconsciously grabbing the Doctor's sleeve for a moment. "It was Susan." she insisted, having picked up the name he gave the woman in the photo. An instant later she found herself running behind him with his flapping coat and his streaming scarf. Into the control room they dashed, Sarah Jane right on the Doctor's heels.
"She's in trouble, Doctor." She asserted, grabbing on hard to the copper rail, watching the Doctor for any clue. There had been something so fierce and desperate in his face. Who was this 'Susan'? Why ws the Doctor moving around like the world was at stake? Sarah Jane held on tight and stayed out of his way as he danced around the control column.
Would they reach their destination? Sometimes the TARDIS seemed to have a will of it's own, but in the worst of times, in the most desperate of times, it always seemed to go where the Doctor needed it to. The ride was unaccountably smooth, without flips and dips. A straight right from here to there, it seemed with only that strange dip, settle and inner ear 'boom' that designated a landing.
Boldly, Sarah Jane reached out and turned on the monitor. Early Egypt, she would have thought, at first glance, but then suddenly some small mechanical something zipped through the read out. Some sort of high technology something.
"It looks like in where I saw in that video." she whispered harshly, looking at the Doctor, and ready to dash to the door with him. He did look so very fraught.

"Yes, undoubitly." he mumbled to her, fumbling with the controls, programming the TARDIS to track the video that had appeared on the screen moments before. And, in the very unlikely case that his wonderous time-travelling machine could not latch onto the frequency, he walked over to Sarah, and took the picture of his grand-daughter out of her hands with such gentle ire, placing it in the middle of the console, and attaching a couple of wires to it. Something that would most definitely be able to track Susan's whereabouts, since he was certain her time signature and diagnostic imprint was still stored in the central mainframe someplace -- even if she had regenerated.
However, he couldn't help but wonder why she had never contacted him, or why he had not sensed her presence in the ethos before. Even the TARDIS seemed perplexed by such information, as she took a moment to fully dematerialize. Why was it that it was only now that he had discovered she had not been lost to him?
As they landed, his best friend switched on the monitor, which displayed a great expanse of desert and Sahara. Central Egypt, to be exact. His blue eyes took in the scenery, of what was currently outside. The great unknown, as it were. And, he had a feeling there was much more unknown about this particular situation than he had rather liked to admit. He pursed his lips, looking a bit grave, but attempting to stay one foot ahead as he swiftly gaited towards the door, opening it carefully in the event that something was waiting for them, and knowing that Sarah would be right behind him. "Be careful, Sarah. And, stay away from cryptic elderly ladies." He warned, giving her his raised eyebrows of sincerity. If he was right, and he most probably was, there was something very not right, a sense of not making sense in the atmospheric conjecture... and in his 750 years of experience, a hunch like that usually pointed to a plot of poisonous apples.

He introduced himself as Morana -- which, he said, would have been impossible to have forgotten. And yet, she did forget. How embarrassing. The man didn’t look at all familiar to her, though he did have an air of familiarity about him. Morana went on to tell her that she was a goddess whose coming had been foretold long ago. Everyone here had been waiting for her, and now, here she was. Well, that sure was an interesting development. Susan didn’t remember being a goddess, which was just as embarrassing (if not more so) than forgetting who Morana was. She didn’t want to offend anyone -- especially if they had all been waiting for her to come for so long -- so, she chose to roll with this news as if it were no big deal. ”That’s right,” she said. ”I think I’m starting to remember now,” she fibbed, trying to save face. ”Thank you, Morana.”When she asked if they were going anywhere, Morana told her that she was in a bit of danger. No one wanted to ever hear that, but Susan had a feeling that she’d been in trouble far more times than she could currently remember. She took the news calmly, in-stride, and she replied to his warning with a question, asking, ”And, what are we going to do about that?”Clearly, Morana knew loads more about her current situation than she did. He would be the one, then, who would be best able to advise her on what to do next. The Mastersarah jane smiththe fourth doctor

❧ The Master didn't believe Susan. He was certain that once she began remembering anything he would notice it. After all, chances were that her behavior would change entirely once truth began to flicker to the surface. She did not have to know this regeneration to hold disdain for him after all. "Of course," he said, going along with the lie for now. There was little point in calling it out after all.
He hadn't doubted that Susan might at least partially believe his claims of danger. After all, she was in danger, she just didn't realize that it was not coming from the people he was claiming it to be- yet. "I imagine it would be opportune to move ourselves to a far more advantageous place should the worst happen," he said seriously, "Unfortunately, our kind are not always taken well here." Also not a lie. Despite the year, humans were not always...pleasant to aliens. "Unless your Grace has another idea?"

"Cryptic elderly ladies and apples?" She said with some distain, looking around. "Och, Doctor, I'm hardly some character out of Grimm's Fairy Tales."
It would have seemed barren if the dunes had not been so lovely. The sky was deep blue with nary a cloud, a color of sharp relief against the dips and peaks in the golden sands.
Sarah Jane never did know just where they'd fetch up. A closet. A cave. The end of some musty alleyway. Always tucked away somewhere from prying eyes though. As it was, she wasn't expecting to pop down in the middle of ground zero and find this Susan woman waiting for them at the door. The TARDIS had decided to hide itself in sand dunes this time, but Sarah Jane suspected that humanity, or something like it, was nearby. She could sent a whiff of it on the air, a hint of both good smells and bad. She stepped away from the TARDIS after flickering a glance at her friend. He was like a canary in a mine shaft for trouble the bigger the frown (or the bigger the smile sometimes) was a good test for just how much trouble they were in.
He didn't look happy, but he didn't look like the sand might open up and swallow them either.
Sarah Jane let her ears hone in on which way she expected to find people. She picked a direction and started walking in it.
"Doctor? Who is Susan?" She was clearly curious, but there might have been just the slightest hint of jealousy hiding in her tone.
