She'd run off for the wardrobe. Her friendship with the Doctor and his TARDIS brought many an amazing gift to her, but she didn't think her friend could ever understand what equal joy she got from the existence of the Wardrobe. Sometimes when the Doctor's company became boring from his tinkering with his TARDIS, Sarah Jane could kill an entire day delving into the seemingly endless offerings of the Wardrobe. Each outfit she wore on an outing had been hours in the choosing. Except for sometimes. Some rare times. Sometimes when Sarah Jane went into the Wardrobe, there was already an outfit there waiting for her, fit on to the dressmaker mannequin. Today was one of those days, and Sarah Jane came up short when she saw it. Then she began to grin. If this outfit had any relation to where they were going, they were headed somewhere nice. Trim white pedal pushers, laced espadrilles, and a thin white peasant's top that would be perfect in a warm climate. "Here we go!" She exclaimed, having no one else that moment to share her excitement with, she gave the mannequin a hug. It wasn't as if anyone was watching her to think her a nutter. Swiftly, Sarah Jane changed into her new outfit. She was just lacing up her second sandal when she felt the TARDIS shudder. It shuddered again and made a sound something like a moan. What was the Doctor up to now, she wondered, quickly tied her shoe into place and popped into the bright white control room after quite a brisk transverse. [ the fourth doctor ]

He had been piloting the console like usual. Nothing terribly out of the ordinary. Flipping the stabilizers, neutralizing the flusters. Circling slowly around the circular center, since it was rather difficult to maneuver his ship as just one person, but not entirely impossible, of course. He did it all the time. However, it would have been terrific, really quite terrific, if he had had someone to help him maneuver his ship. Like an assistant.. or a companion. A friend. Oh, That's right, he did have someone like that around here someplace, didn't he? However could he forget.
"Sarah?" his voice boomed throughout the console room and down the corridors. What had his beautiful blundering brunette got up to now?
"The flux fabricators are hard to reach from the opposing side of the ontological control panel. I really could appreciate a little help if you don't mind." his brusk baratone carried the request, but he heard no sound from behind him or in front of him or to the side. Surely, she was near-by. She was always near-by.
Wasn't she?
"Sarah, I'm not sure how long I'll be able to hold down this button without--" He turned around to glance at her, only to find that she still wasn't anywhere in his line of blue sight, and his mouth fell open ever so slightly. "Sarah?"
That's when the TARDIS shuddered. Not being to properly pilot the ship had sent it into a sudden shock, and the Doctor was now barely holding onto the edge of the console by the tips of his fingers, as the jolt had knocked him to his knees, and pressed his torso against the stem that held the octagonal control panel. His head barely peeked above the surface before his ship shuddered again, this time barreling him and Sarah into a world of the unknown.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ Of all his virtues, patience was the one that most would not expect the Master to have. However, it was only a fitting one. To achieve what he desired rashness and foolishness could not be allowed. One had to be capable of waiting, particularly when they were full of as much ire as he currently was and so the Master had done. The pieces had been easy to put in place. After all, as one might expect of a Time Lord, such a backwards planet was easy to turn into a sandbox for his own plots.
Now there was just the matter of waiting for the Doctor himself. In this matter, the Master only had so much insight. Being a Time Lord gave him a better line of vision than most as to where and when he should be, as well as to where and when might be best to place himself. However, the exact moment itself was not something even he could predict.
But that was perfectly fine. Father Seta was a busy figure, particularly when the individuals beneath him desired his guidance on how to deal with the cruel world they live in and they would have soon had to move lest doom come to them. Disguised in a young face, the Master adorned grand robes before leaving his rooms to go out and speak to the people.

Tumbling in pot-over-tea kettle, Sarah Jane entered the control room. She'd managed it quite gracefully but with some irritation. There should be some sort of warning lights when the TARDIS was up to her tricks, before the bucking or swirling began. "Och! Doctor!" Was it reprimand? Was it concern? Her call was pitched right on the line between as she quickly crawled a few quick steps to the console and hauled herself to her feet despite the ruckus. She supposed from now on when the Doctor started shouting her name impatiently and repeatedly as he just had, she should consider that the warning. However, her tall friend was just as likely to sound so urgent when he'd had some surrealistic revelation that he just had to tell her that instant. How was a girl to know? Well, this time it was pretty clear. "Having trouble?" She asked with a dry grin and holding casually on, even though her mouth had gone a bit dry at the intensity on the Doctor's face. He had a bit of a time pulling himself up, and standing straight and fully to his natural height. His hands gripped the console as if his life depended on it, and his features were all stern, serious, and concerned as his gaze flitted around the panel, his brows furrowing bushy.
Small footsteps made their way across the floor, and he heard a small shuffle from someone that couldn't be no bigger than 5 feet tall. "Hello, Sarah! Good to see you've finally made it," he bellowed to his brunette companion, never once looking her way. It seems she had heard him calling for her afterall. He partially wondered where she had been off to all this time, but she was here now, so no matter. There were more important things at stake.
He flipped a switch, twisted a knob. Tried to get his marvelous machine flying properly again. "Ah, yes, so nice of you to notice --" he replied somewhat absent-mindedly. Then, his wild blues looked up at her, wide and inquisitive, taking in her stance. Her presence, and just stared for a moment, a question hanging off the edge of her tongue. He pointed to the opposing end of the octagonal panel. "Just flip that lever," he instructed, with a brisk and an authority in his tone. It was obvious that he was becoming slightly annoyed by whatever was currently going wrong, bothered by the way things were going. The way his ship was acting. Though, just as soon as he had made the demand, they shook again. Quite violently this time, and he gripped the edge of the console, only for him to lose his balance, and gritted teeth and a curly mess soon fell to the floor head-first.
His hand immediately went to his head, which was no doubt bruised from his fall, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. Still, he bared a hard face and a grimace against the pain. "It seems that we've landed."
But, where?

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ The moment the timeline settled towards something that could be was easy for the Master to tell, coming to him as easily as breathing might have come to another. The Doctor, he had little doubt, was here, his actions having properly pushed towards a specific event. Now the only matter was to press things in the direction that he desired.
Coming to the people who had gathered for this momentous occasion, a charming smile crossed the false priest's face as he addressed the crowd. "I bring to you great news!" he crooned, a glimmer in his eye, "The time of the prophecy is nearly upon us."
A gasp rang out. Silently, he could not help but muse that the primary objective would be to find the players he needed. While the Doctor was his target, he was not who he needed. "As we prepare to travel, an eye should be kept out for those who may bring us to salvation-" Dramatically, he cast his hands upwards. "And to our doom." Ominously, he allowed the words to hang, before bringing his arms down.
Collecting himself, he continued to speak. Once done, the matter of beginning to prepare for the seasonal move was once more at hand.

Sarah Jane was late to the disaster, but first out the door. Heat hit her in the face like a hot wet cloth. Oh, she could breath it, the Doctor would have never let her out if she couldn't, but it must have been at least 35 degrees. She was mighty glad of the outfit that the TARDIS had laid out for her. What struck her first was the layered orange-pink rock that scrolled around them. Born by water erosion she guessed, but there was no water here now. At some point there had been some, for water-starved shrubs clung dead and craggled clinging to the sharp hillsides. There was a stream bed near her feet, easily identified by the rounded rocks of an old river bed. Rocks that clinked like shale under her feet. What stopped her in her tracks though was three humanoids who stood before them, apparently waiting. Somehow knowing she and the Doctor would be here at this time and place. Skin like bronze. Not 'bronzed' as to describe a fine holiday tan, but bronze as in the metal. Such beautiful skin, even on the ancient man at their center with his shock of white hair and his gauze like loin cloth and ragged robe. His eyes, what one could see in those deep wrinkles, sparkled a bright hazel green. He was flanked on either side by a man and woman, clearly of the same species, but younger and more pious. Eyes downcast where the old man gave her a direct gaze. Nervously, she gave a look back to make certain the safety of the TARDIS and the Doctor were close behind her. "Hi." Was all that came out of her as she looked back to the unexpected welcoming committee. the fourth doctor

He let her go first -- or, rather, the journalist seemed to be able to barely contain herself from the thrill of adventure that loomed in both of their veins, and was foot out the door the moment they landed. He rose to his feet to apprehend his brunnette companion, to warn her of the possible dangers. To see for himself what marvelous mosiacs and lush landscapes waited for them. Though, it could very well be dry and barren, for all he knew. In either case, he hoped the air was breathable, that the place was habitable, and that where-ever they had fallen to would be worth his precious time.
"Sarah, I don't think we should be venturing out just yet. There could be--" He told her in advisory care. He stepped out onto the rust-colored ground floor, that seemed to be surrounded in similar colored rocks, big and small. His blue eyes took it in, observing a great deal of information that hid behind his dubious expression as he turned to face the bronze people, and he stared at them momentarily before a grin overtook his features. "Oh, hello, how do you do?" he greeted kindly, extending a hand to the indigenous residence in question. "I'm the Doctor. This is Sarah. She's my best friend," he told them with a cheeky gesture. "It seems we've fallen out of the sky and interrupted your very important meeting. I'm very sorry about that, but if you could just tell us which way to Orion's belt, I'm sure we could navigate our way back to whence we were coming or going." His face became much like his voice -- an open-ended question, with raised brows and a certain mischief lurking behind his sapphires and animated features. He was all jest, and yet all business, all at once.
And, although the people of this particular planet were inevitably interesting, his intuition and superior intellect told him that something was still amiss. That his TARDIS hadn't just been brought here out of mere coincidence or shear possibility, and something along the shriveled shrubs cautioned him to tread carefully.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ While the Master prepared for the seasonal move, the beginnings of his plot began to move in the form of the individuals that the Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith had come across. Notably, they seemed to give the Doctor more of a passing glance despite the fact that he seemed to be doing most of the talking. Instead, the majority of the group's attention appeared to be on Sarah in a manner that could easily be described as obsessive.
One thing he said, however, seemed to quickly stick out to them. "The sky?" repeated the elderly man. An excited murmur seemed to break out among the younger two, quiet whispers exchanged between them. "Is she the chosen one?" the woman murmured loud enough to be heard anyone who might have passed by.
The answer seemed to come in the form of the elderly man bowing deeply, the younger two quickly following suite. "You must come with us," he pleaded, "We are desperately in need of your help. If you merely speak to the Holy Father..." \

They were rather beautiful people, of which she was glad. As much as she tried to have an open mind Sarah Jane just didn't care for the squiddy ones. Or the bugs, if they were big. The people were staring at her, but then again, she was staring at them. They seemed almost like poured metal, but they're shapes and movement were so soft it was clear they were made of flesh. Skin that gleamed in the penetrating sunlight.
It seemed most fitting in this ravaged land, sun baked. Sun glazed even, she thought, seeing the shimmers in the surface of the cliff walls. Almost as if the sun had baked some of them into sparks of glass. The old man's hair shone like sun on ice.
Unconsciously Sarah Jane licked moisture onto her lips, though she'd hardly been out here long ago to feel any real effects of the heat.
She could not help let loose a little sigh when it turned out this welcoming committee had come looking for the aid of herself and the Doctor, rather than to direct them to the nearest tourist resort. It wasn't that there was in question in her whether they should help or would help, but honestly, it seemed like a roll of the dice on any given day if she and her friend would be lounging or saving someone. Most of the time it was easy enough. They'd tell their troubles and the Doctor would come up with some gadget or some plan that made everybody happier then before the Time Lord had arrived.
Of course there were the days they came close to sacrificing life and limb, but the easy days far outnumbered the hard ones. Well. She was in, and resolved herself to it. It always did feel good if you could give someone a hand, and with her friend at her side, they could do just about anything.
She had noticed that the people were giving the Doctor a short shrift, but that wasn't entirely unusual, he was rather large and a bit forward. On the other hand, no one had ever described her as intimidating. Not until they got to know her, anyway.
"I'm the chosen one." she whispered to the Doctor with a wink and a grin, liking that apparently on the journey, she wasn't going to be dismissed as the Doctor's pet or some such. Sarcasm aside, though, she walked up to the old man, bent over, and tilted her head so she could see him and catch his eye. Her hair fell dark and heavy to one side. Their faces were close. The man smelled like expensive incense.
"Hello. We'll come with you and meet your Holy Father. Just show us where to go. Is it far?" As she spoke, she started to stand slowly, hoping the man would stand as well. She was getting over her momentary petulance because of the prospect of meeting some sort of holy man that the holy man in front of her thought was even holier than he. Sarah Jane liked a good Holy Man. Speaking with them was a great way to learn a whole lot about an entire region.
Upright, she looked over at the Doctor, her face bright. She mouthed the words 'holy man' and tapped the side of her nose almost as if to indicate she'd one a point in some unspoken game.
Soon enough they were hiking away from the TARDIS and along a barely tamped path.

His wide blue eyes watched carefully, delicately, at the indigenous people's reactions. Though, one thing he'd said had stuck out to them rather particularly. "Yes... the sky." he re-iterated, silently studying the planetary resident somewhat wearily. The man had said it as if he could barely believe it, and while the Doctor got that reaction quite often, there was something about the way his face had lit up. Like he had been expecting him and Sarah to fall from the sky, which was surprising to say the least. All of them with bronze skin and a far-flung hope that was hard to ignore. Almost as if him and Sarah had been part of some grand story or epic told through the eons, passed down through generations. Like an illuminating legend.
Though, what the man said next made the curly-haired incarnation squint indefinitely, his eyebrows doing the same. There was something about following these unknown beings that he did not trust -- a sensation of alarm and suspicion that he just could not shake. He couldn't help but feel that something was wrong with all of this somehow, that these people knew more than they should.
"Tell me..." the Doctor began in a booming and scholarly tone that was both sophisticated and curious, "Who are you? What year is it? And, what is the name of the planet that we're currently walking on?" He asked. It was a simple question, and he needed to know more about such things before they prodded too much further. But, there was a method to his madness, a reason for his inquiry, that would lead to complicated deduction of reasoning. "It doesn't seem very advanced," he remarked, pointing out the obvious, as well as something he found remarkably odd for the projected time period he assumed they had fallen into.
He couldn't help but grin back at his companion's glee, but his blue sapphires still shone with a glint of worry, and his lips were quick to shape into a somber frown. "Yes.." he agreed in a hush, but his voice grew graver for the concern that followed. "But, I wonder why." He shared a tentative glance with Sarah.
Holy Father, you say? It seemed these people were more primitive than he initially thought.
"Of course we'll come see your Religious Leader," he announced loudly alongside his brunette beauty as they began their journey. "As long as he doesn't infringe on our beliefs of science and medicine. But after that, we really should be on our way." He insisited, keeping a sharp interior eye on their surroundings, what they were doing, and most of all, where they were going.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ The small group did not seem to take the studious look they were being pinned with with much offense.Of course, this could largely be due to the fact that they seemed to be largely preoccupied with the presence of Sarah Jane than they were with the Doctor. It was only when the Time Lord began to ask questions that the small group focused their full attention on him.
The group eyed him with an odd look. "I am Mu'ib," said the young woman before the young man spoke next, "And I am Ixi." The elderly man nodded in turn. "I am Zafa'it. This is Ogniuq. I am afraid I would not be able to tell you how many passages of the sun there have been. The Ogniuq have stopped keeping track of such things since we have had to travel between the sides of the planet between seasons." The affronted looks that crossed the group's face were probably only natural at the Doctor's claim. However, as if to confirm the Doctor's claim, Izi proudly stated. "Hardly so! We have been quite accomplished in magic for many passages! As were our ancestors before us."
Zafa'it offered Sarah Jane a smile at her query. "Not far at all," he assured her, "Though we will have to make haste. Staying here for too long will be dangerous."
Following along, frowns had clearly worked their ways across the group's faces. Though, it had not come at the mention of beliefs but potentially leaving. "But of course," Mu'ib eventually said, "This way then."

Sarah Jane was quite tickled that they seemed to like her. The Doctor could be quite imposing, and he had charisma for days, but that apparently was of little importance. That old man with the skin like poured metal seemed only to have eyes for her. As bold as it was for her to touch him, she was still quite formal, taking his arm as one might a male courtier of the 12 century. A simple laying on of her palm to his forearm. They walked together as the Doctor droned on.
Her espadrilles ground against the sand, but their height kept her out of the dust and made her just a little bit taller than her white haired guide.
Sarah Jane wondered if the grand canyon looked like this as she ran the names over in her head. Mu'ib the woman, Ixi, the man, and Zafa'it the holy man on whose arm she paraded about.
Everything was going fine until the Doctor started going on. Perhaps he was jealous that they were giving her more attention than him. When he started subtly scorning the idea of meeting the leader of this desert contingent, even if only in tone, Sarah Jane looked over her shoulder at him and mouthed- "Knock it off." With wide and judgmental eyes.
This seemed like one of those dry places that had good spices. She bet, by the way they were treating her, that there was a fine dessert for her in store. She gave the Doctor a clear wave off before turning back to her guide.
It really was turning out to be a lovely day. Sarah Jane smirked a bit wondering what the Doctor felt about playing second fiddle, even though he was playing loudly.

His blue eyes stared as his brunette companion, not at all liking how familiar and comfortable she seemed to be with these indigenious peoples. For all they knew, they could be planning to use her as sacrifice to one of their tribal gods. He kept a close eye on her, giving the two of them a hard glare. Though, he was quick to feign his true ponderings with a squinted apathetic consideration of the barren terrain and the history provided to him by Mu'ib, Ixi, and Zafa'it. Although his face seemed hardened, his interest was piqued by one of the simpler things. "The sides..." he muttered, catching onto one of the vague details.
He looked to the main one -- Mu'ib. He seemed to be the most intelligent of the group. "Why do you travel between the sides of the planet?" Something about the explanation perplexed him. Even if they were primitive, he was quite certain they could build a bridge, unless, of course, they did it for migration, which was highly probable. Something told him there was more to their methods than they were letting on, and he would keep his suspicions about them.
He perked up, his eyebrows raising slightly at the mention of there being trouble afoot, inquiring. "Dangerous, you say?"
They continued to follow them, and he caught Sarah's scolding, giving her a frown of his own and shooting her a stern look that mouthed 'be careful'. She didn't understand the implications. There was something wrong about this place, these people. Their strong faith in their own idiocrasy and fallacy regarding their insistence of "magic" was unbelievable, to say the least, if not outright worrisome. And, the way that they had taken to him and Sarah so easily -- espically Sarah -- with no valuable reason, he had a right to believe that they may just as well walking into a trap.

And while you are sitting indoors waiting for the storm to pass I will be outside dancing in the rain
❧ In their adoration of Sarah Jane, the Doctor's glare and distrust went entirely unseen. While it was not entirely wrong to distrust, it was certainly misplaced. After all, his current company only believed what they had been taught, as those before them had been. The person to truly distrust was the one they were currently seeking. While a High Priest might be expected to be intelligent, he would inevitably also be the source of their beliefs, from those of magic to lies.
Zafa'it nodded. "Yes," he said, "It has to do with your previous question. As the seasons change, we must travel as this side becomes uninhabitable." As someone who lived in a fairly primitive world, the exact details were beyond the man. He could not realize that his world was currently hurdling towards its death. "It becomes too hot. However, we have long since been graced with magic to aid in this endeavor."
