The Doctor walked out onto what looked like a sturdy log and plank hybrid porch, a mug of something warm in his hand. The sky was just breaking, but the rain could still be visibly seen coming down in distance in very tiny droplets. There was also a slight fog from the change of temperature. A small heat emanating from the grass. There were birds singing joyously in the distance. He took a deep breathe of the air and sighed, it was a good day. The scent of rain past Who'd have ever thought though that The Doctor, of all people, would find themselves in a more recluse place such as a ranch log cabin style home. Probably no one, except maybe one or two companions or so. There were some things he'd just never explored with many others. He had to have some secrets after all. Sure he showed that he was one to not sit around, but there were times when even he knew that he needed some respites from the main chaos. Did that mean he sat on his butt all day, no. He still got out and did things. He just didn't have to go look for trouble. Sometimes rather trouble probably would more likely find him.
But this morning was quiet and serene. He took s sip from his mug and leaned onto the railing of the porch, content with his view. The area was nice. There was plenty of open land, trees, etc. A good place to have a small farm, ranch, or just quiet space to contemplate. Sure it lacked technology, but that was okay. Who wouldn't want some small break from computers and robots and the like. If he wanted that, he could just wander back inside his TARDIS and have it. No, this place was free form much of it, unless he needed it for any reason. He looked about the yard. There was not even a small stirring in sight. The fog had rolled in an almost eerie ambiance. Nothing to be worried about as far as he was concerned. It was just a natural phenomenon that happened from time to time. It was just another one of those places he went to that he thought would probably make for a great set of art. Simply picturesque. For mortal humans that would seem like a lifetime, but for him, it felt still more like just a moment.

The door to the house, slowly opened and a figure wrapped in a woolen blanket stepped out on the rough boards. Bare feet, carefully stepped across the porch and wrapped the blanket around the slender man's shoulders, making herself standing on her tiptoes, as it was the only way she could reach. River pressed a tender kiss to the top of his neck, just behind his ear. "Morning" she smiled against his skin, before moving her head away to rest on his shoulder and join him in admiring the view. It was a beautiful location. River had seen a lot of places in her travels, but there was something about plain old nature, that could still take her breath away. This was certainly one of those times. The fact that she had her arms snugly wrapped around her husband, had nothing to do with it. Definitely not.
She had woken up alone, which was one of her least favorite things to have happen after a night spent with the Doctor. But she wasn't going to mention that. For now, she was just glad that she had found him on the porch and that he hadn't just left. He would have had a reason for leaving, of course, but not one explaining why he didn't wake her. It wasn't her fault that the part of her that was human, needed more sleep than he did. Whatever the case, he hadn't left, so all that didn't even matter. For now, River just leaned slightly against him, while she took in the view and let her mind settle on the fact that he was still there.

A smile crossed The Doctors lips as he turned his face towards Rivers, "Morning."
As far as warmth went for blankets, that was here nor there. But as far as comfort went, this incarnation was very fond of blankets. They were like a warm hug. Plus they made for great blanket forts. And in his mind blanket forts were cool. Great for story telling and eating biscuits and drinking chocolate. Also hand puppets were amusing. In this case though, it signified River's and his closeness to each other. All it did was make him feel more relaxed and happy. Her leaning against him, that sense of touch meant everything to him. Sure he left her to sleep, but her sleeping was precious. It was like watching an angel on a cloud sleep. Not one of those creepy weeping statues mind, but more like the ones you see in churches with those fantastic paintings. Art was such a wonderful way to express beauty. That's what River was, living art. Dangerous beauty with legs...and some really amazing curls. How she kept that hair so perfect, he had no idea, but it sure was sexy.
Leaning against her in return and taking a drink he spoke, "Isn't it picturesque? I just love the smell of rain. To hear it in the distance still. And the songbirds."

A cool breeze slowly swept over the porch. If it hadn't been for the blanket, River would have shivered and hurried inside. But as it was, she was nice and warm, not to mention snuggled up with The Doctor. It would take more than a bit of cold wind, to make her want to move. "Mmm" She agreed softly. "It's so peaceful" It was rare that any of them, had the patience to stand still for two seconds, even less so, when they were in the same place and time. "Not usually how things are, when we show up" River giggled lowly, before snuggling closer to him. Once in a blue moon, she wished that her life could be different, quieter. She could see herself settling down in a place like this. Rose-tinted glasses, for sure. But it was a nice fantasy. She would get bored and she knew when she went back out, she would remember why she hadn't settled yet. Because she loved the chaos. And it was the only way she could live, to increase the chances of running into The Doctor. That was a big factor too. River couldn't help but wonder if something would come along and bring back the chaos, or if they would get to stay in this peaceful lull for another day. Not that they didn't do anything all day. But nothing dramatic had happened yet like it normally did. And it just felt.. odd. Not that she was complaning. Not yet, anyway.
